Businesses Located Within the Membership Zone

If your business operates within the Hastings City Business Association Membership Zone, you are eligible to become a member of the Association.

Membership is automatically available to property owners who contribute to the targeted rate. However, if you lease or rent your premises and do not own the property you operate from, you will need to become a Qualifying Member to access the benefits, services, events, and opportunities available to Hastings City Business Association members (as of February 2026).

If you are NOT located within the Membership Zone, you may quality for an Associate Membership (further details below).

The Hastings City Membership zone is encompassed by Nelson Street, St Aubyn Street, Hastings Street and Southampton Streets and includes all businesses within the area, including the inner side of the boundary streets.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

All landlords within the Hastings City Business Improvement District (BID), who pay the annual targeted rate and their tenants, are automatically members of the Hastings City Business Association. Other businesses outside of this area can apply to join as Associate Members. For an annual fee, they enjoy access to association resources and support as well as benefitting from marketing opportunities.

  • Training & support

  • Weekly information via our e-newsletter

  • Eligibility for election to the HCBA Board

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Businesses outside the BID area have the opportunity to enjoy the same advantages as our members by joining as an Associate Member. The membership fee is calculated through the Hastings District Council Rates Department and can be no less than what the business would pay if based within the BID area. The formula is set by the HDC Rates Department.
